We are a small school run by an experienced principal. Our base is in Frogmore just off the A379, about three miles from Kingsbridge, seven from Salcombe and twelve from Dartmouth.
Andy Thomson, our principal has been sailing most of his life. He and his wife currently own an Oyster Heritage 37 which they usually keep in Salcombe Harbour. For the last two years they’ve been cruising in the Scottish Highlands, Orkneys and Shetland.
He is an RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor and has been teaching afloat and ashore since 1996. Before starting the Devon School of Navigation he ran a correspondence school and a practical sail training school.
Andy is the Training Officer and Deputy Station Manager for the National Coastwatch Institution lookout at Prawle Point. He also lectures and teaches at local yacht clubs.
